Student Leadership
Every student has the chance to grow as a leader of character. Explore how the school's tiered leadership programmes build skills, values, and a spirit of service from P1 to P6.
Key Focus
In alignment with the school’s vision, the Student Leadership development aims to nurture every student into a "Leader of Character" who is keen to serve. Our focus includes:
The Leader in Everyone: Providing every student with the opportunity to develop leadership competencies, regardless of their formal role.
Servant Leadership: Emphasizing that leadership is a responsibility to serve the school, the community, and the nation.
Collective Positive Changes: Recognising personal strengths and contributing for the greater good.
Pedagogical Approaches
We adopt a tiered developmental model to ensure leadership training is progressive and inclusive:
Tiered Training Framework: A 3-tier structure that moves from foundational leadership for all, to specialized roles in classrooms and CCAs, culminating in school-wide leadership via the Student Council.
Experiential Learning: Providing "on-the-job" leadership opportunities where students lead school events, morning assemblies, and community outreach.
Reflective Practice: Encouraging student leaders to reflect on their actions and impact through regular check-ins and leadership workshops.
Peer Mentorship: Senior leaders (Tier 3) are trained to mentor their juniors, creating a sustainable culture of leadership within the student body.
Key Programmes
Our leadership programmes are structured to provide a clear pathway for student growth:
Tier 1: Personal Leadership (Foundation)
CCE-Integrated Lessons: Every student from P1 to P6 undergoes foundational leadership modules during Character and Citizenship Education lessons to develop self-leadership and social-emotional skills.
Tier 2: Role-Based Leadership (Enrichment)
Class, Subject & CCA Leaders: Students are appointed as Class Monitors, subject monitors such as Cyberwellness Monitors, Eco-Monitors, and CCA Leaders to manage daily responsibilities and lead their peers in specific domains.
Student Leadership Workshop: Annual training sessions where Tier 2 leaders learn practical skills like effective communication and conflict resolution.
Tier 3: The Student Council (Excellence)
Prefects' Investiture: A formal ceremony where the school community recognizes and commissions student leaders, signaling their commitment to the school’s core values.
Investiture
Signature Service Projects: The Student Council initiates and executes school-wide events such as Teachers’ Day celebrations, Recess Activities, and Change-in-Action (CIA) projects, allowing them to "Extend a Hand" to others.
