YCKPS’ Twinning Experience in Guangdong, China

YCKPS has embarked on a twinning partnership with Nanhai Foreign Language School (NFLS) in Guangdong (Foshan), China in 2025. This twinning experience serves to provide students with extensive exposure to the learning of Chinese Language and Chinese Culture in an enriched environment; enable students to develop global awareness and cross-cultural skills; and provide opportunities for students to learn and interact with peers of another nationality through the school’s twinning experience at YCKPS’ twinning school in Guangdong (Foshan), China.

During the learning trip, a group of Primary 5 students visited YCKPS’ twinning school, Nanhai Foreign Language School (NFLS), and were immersed in the learning of Mathematics which was integrated with calligraphy; Science through robotics; and culture through traditional craft-making. These lessons were taught in Chinese Language and the students attended these lessons with their peers from NFLS. Additionally, one of our Science Teacher (Mr Louis Loo, Year Head/Middle Primary) also conducted an English-medium Science lesson in NFLS where YCKPS students were engaged in learning with their peers from NFLS.

Besides the learning in NFLS, the students also learnt through new and authentic experiences at the Guangdong Science Centre (which is the largest in the world), Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Urban Planning and Exhibition Centre and the Guangzhou Library. It was an immersive, authentic and rich learning experience for the students.

Back in Singapore, the students continued with the learning reflection on their trip and also transferred their learning by sharing their learning experiences with their school mates through a presentation at school assembly.
